Thanks to the 2007 Luke Club membership drive which ended last month, 149 Thunderbolts are now new club members.

According to John Myrick, 56th Services Squadron club manager, the Air Education and Training Command goal was 168, however, 149 new club members is good news for all Thunderbolts.

Club membership is important because the dues help support special events such as Luke's annual July 4 celebration and facilities like the base library and fitness center.
"So, in a sense, club members support the base's vital services and functions," said Paul Harvey, 56th SVS assistant club manager.

In addition to supporting base services and events, club members fatten their own wallets by receiving food and entertainment discounts at Club Thunderbolt and the Desert Star Club.

Additionally, members save money at Falcon Dunes, Thunderbolt Lanes, Crustano's and Fort Tuthill, the recreational lodging, RV and campsite facility in Flagstaff. Club members also receive a $10 club certificate for the member's birthday and monthly calendars with coupons for additional savings.

As a means to thank members for their dedication and patronage, a membership appreciation breakfast that features scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, fruit, juice and coffee is 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at Club Thunderbolt. The cost is free for members and guests pay $5.95.

"The breakfast is just one way to show how much we value and appreciate our club members," Mr. Myrick said.
