The Air Force selected Luke AFB and the Phoenix metro area to host "Air Force Week" from March 19-25.

Gen. William R. Looney III, commander, Air Education and Training Command, officially announced Air Force Week Jan. 8 with a four-ship F-16 flyover at Westgate City Center to a crowd of approximately 5,000 college football fans immediately preceding the National Bowl Championship Series game.

Air Force Week activities will be scheduled around the Phoenix metro area and will culminate with the Luke Days Air Show on March 24-25. The show will feature the Air Force Thunderbirds.

The weeklong event gives citizens the opportunity to see and meet active duty, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard Airmen who are engaged in the Global War on Terror. The week is dedicated to telling their amazing story and thanking the Phoenix metro area for their tremendous support.

The inaugural Air Force Week took place in St. Louis last year and, due to its success, the Air Force Week program has expanded to six locations this year. The other five selected locations for Air Force Weeks in 2007 are Sacramento, St. Louis, the New England region, Honolulu and Atlanta.
