Luke AFB youth experience a child-friendly deployment during Operation K.I.D.S.

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Karen Caraballo, 56th Security Forces Squadron defender, helps a military child put on protective gear during Operation Kids Investigating Deployment Services Nov. 13, 2021, at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. Operation K.I.D.S. had similar aspects of a deployment within a simulated deployed location and included information booths with unit representatives from readiness, fire department, security forces, and aircraft maintenance. The Airman and Family Readiness Center takes care of Airmen and their families by providing educational resources and holding events such as Operation K.I.D.S., which gives children a better understanding of their parents’ sacrifice and dedication, and allows a dialog within families about deployments.
