"Jeep" chief
Brig. Gen. Tom Jones, 56th Fighter Wing commander, was recognized as an honorary chief master sergeant May 27. Chief Master Sgt. (ret) Geno Piccoli had the honor of bestowing the Chief’s Group Jeep to General Jones during a private ceremony. The term Jeep has traditionally been used by the military to refer to an individual who is junior or the newest. The Jeep above is symbolic of that tenure and associated with the most recently promoted chief. Therefore, the most recently promoted chief will be addressed by his/her peers as “Jeep” until a more junior chief is promoted.
