Colonel PETER B. ABERCROMBIE II

Colonel Peter B. Abercrombie II is the Commander, 56th Mission Support Group, Luke AFB, Arizona. In this capacity, he leads 2,200 military and civilian personnel across six squadrons assigned to the world’s largest Fighter Wing; enabling the posture of combat ready Airmen and the development of the world’s greatest fighter pilots. He oversees a one hundred and five million dollar operating budget and directs a diverse mission portfolio including physical and cyber base defense, engineering, explosive ordinance disposal, fire, emergency management, security forces, logistics and material management, transportation, fuels, cryogenics, contracting, force support, and fighter combat readiness.

Prior to assuming his current position, Col. Abercrombie was the Division Chief for Defense Logistics Agency-United States Transportation Command (DLA-T) which serves as the Enterprise integrator to USTRANSCOM, the Distribution Process Owner (DPO) and the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE). He also was a student at National War College where he earned a Master of Science Degree in National Security Studies.

Col. Abercrombie received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corp upon his graduation from Ohio State University. Since his commissioning, Col. Abercrombie has held a variety of logistics officer positions at the squadron, Air Logistics Complex, Air Force Personnel Center, Numbered Air Force and Headquarters Air Force levels.
