Native American academy graduate shares thoughts
The Ira H. Hayes American Legion Post No. 84 officers, present the colors Nov. 8 during the Native American Indian Heritage Month Luncheon at Club Five Six on Luke Air Force Base. The post was named after Ira H. Hayes, a member of the Pima Indian Reservation from Sacaton, Ariz. Hayes joined the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was one of the six men to raise the American Flag on Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Darlene Seltmann)
