One Luke Airman's path to self-acceptance
Staff Sgt. KC Zens, 372nd Training Squadron, Detachment 12 F-35A Lightning II aircraft avionics instructor, stands in front of an F-35 egress trainer, used to train technical school Airmen to inspect and repair the aircraft’s electronic systems July 12, 2021, at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. As an instructor and non-commissioned officer, Zens uses his personal experiences to empathize and help his Airmen grow into the nation’s next generation of warfighters. Zens, a transgender Airman, transitioned while serving in the Air Force and educates other Airmen about his journey. Diversity and inclusion is imperative for the Air Education and Training Command and strengthens the Air Force as a whole. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class David Busby)
