Your first line of defense when deciding what kind of care you need is TRICARE's Nurse Advice Line (NAL) at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273) option 1.

A registered nurse can answer your urgent care questions and schedule next-day appointments at military hospitals and clinics if necessary.

The NAL is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In the event of an emergency, you should seek care at an emergency facility. If you use TRICARE Prime and need emergency care, be sure to notify your primary care manager or regional contractor within 24 hours or the next business day.

If you think you only need urgent care, get a referral from your primary care manager or call the NAL to get advice on when and how to seek care for an urgent problem.

TRICARE Prime beneficiaries who are assigned to a Primary Care Manager (PCM) at 56th Medical Group (56 MDG) can still call their PCM or clinic for medical advice and appointments at (623) 856-2273 (856-CARE).  Beneficiaries may also reach the NAL by calling 56 MDG at 856-CARE and selecting option 1

Mission: Provide comprehensive medical care to 23,000 enrolled beneficiaries by promoting health, maintaining wellness and minimizing the impact of illness.  Deliver specialty medical care to 5,500 uniformed personnel ensuring optimal performance and ensure medical readiness of the human weapons system for the largest fighter wing in the USAF.  The Family Health, Medical Services, Clinical Services, and Surgical Services Flights support over 140,000 ambulatory visits and 500 surgeries annually.

Mission: Ensure ready fighting forces by providing administrative, financial, data analysis, diagnostics and therapeutics services essential to health promotion and healthcare for 5,500 military personnel and 92,000 eligible beneficiaries. Prepare wing personnel for expeditionary operations to support global missions through ancillary services and medical benefits for their dependents. Support 194,000 patient visits in an integrated $100M managed care system.

Mission: Prepare wing personnel to deploy in support of global missions. Provide aeromedical support for members in nine fighter squadrons and medical care for all active duty members at Luke AFB. Promote wellness and provide medical, dental, mental health, and optometric care for 5,500 military personnel and other beneficiaries. Ensure quality occupational and community environments through proactive public health and bioenvironmental programs.
