Mission: The Luke Air Force Base Community Initiatives Team (CIT) stood up in 2003 to foster direct communication channels and build positive relationships with local authorities, community members and elected officials to ensure mission sustainability at Luke AFB.
Who we are: The Community Initiatives Team is the primary liaison between the 56th Fighter Wing Commander and all surrounding political subdivisions, developers and major stakeholders interested in coordinating compatible land development in areas impacted by the flying mission of Luke AFB. The CIT coordinates offices of technical expertise such as airspace and civil engineering in their interaction with the community, county, state and federal officials.
What we do: Ensure compatible land use development ensuring long-term mission sustainment for Luke AFB, particularly as raw land near the installation and throughout the West Valley is aggressively developed. This is achieved through ongoing relationships and partnering with municipal planning and zoning departments as well as established processes to evaluate compatible requirements against 56th Fighter Wing flying mission operations.
