Luther Mitchell Jr. 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Luke Air Force Base's Club Five Six invites all service members, civilians and foreign military to sign up for Air Force Club membership. Becoming a club member brings with it membership benefits, including "club" and "card" benefits. "You won't find a place to hold an event that costs less," said Charles Aubrey, 56th Force Support Squadron Club Five Six manager. "We are here to support our club members. All active duty, civilian, nonappropriated fund employees, contractors, foreign military are eligible for club membership." Club Five Six is open for lunch Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and features a buffet, salad bar and grill to order a la carte. In addition to Luke-specific benefits, club members enjoy reciprocal privileges at Air Force clubs worldwide. Those include membership-only programs, conveniences and scholarships. Permanent change of station transfer incentives, catering programs and consultation on off-site special events are additional benefits available to members. "Throughout history, clubs have been instrumental in maintaining esprit de corps throughout the military," Aubrey said. "Clubs have a tradition supporting promotions, award ceremonies, graduation banquets, pin-on ceremonies and retirements for all military branches, military balls and more." The clubs have always been a vital part of Air Force life and are rich in tradition and heritage, Aubrey said. "But without continued membership support, they may someday become only a memory of the past," he said. "Once we lose the club it will never come back."
