For some people waking up on New Year's Day means a fresh start.

For others, it may feel like there is a lot of work ahead, especially if they've made a New Year's resolution.

The Examiner reported that American's top three goals for 2013 are sticking to a budget, getting in better shape and developing healthy habits. Unfortunately, only eight percent of people actually kept their resolutions according to the same report.

One way to improve the odds of being in that 8 percent is to take advantage of all the tools and resources available right here at Luke.

Most people want to start saving money at the beginning of each new year, and the 56th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center wants to help Thunderbolts achieve that goal, said Cory Carmichael, AFRC community readiness specialist.

"Saving money and getting on the right track is easier said than done," he said. "It takes discipline and a little planning, but the more resources you take advantage of, the more likely you are to succeed."

Those resources include the "Finance 101" course that introduces basic finance skills, as well as assistance with credit score enhancement.

If sticking to a budget is the goal, the AFRC even offers one-on-one budget counseling.

If getting in better shape is the number one goal for 2013, many resources exist to boost success.

Sometimes all it takes to stick to a resolution like weight loss is a little motivation and friendly competition. That's where something like "Luke's Biggest Loser Competition" can really help get the ball rolling on shedding those extra pounds.

The 56th FSS Health and Wellness Center also provides healthy cooking classes and commissary tours.

For some, one-on-one physical training is more beneficial. In that case, the Luke Fitness Center offers the help of certified personal trainers at no cost to Luke members.

So, before attempting to tackle all of those goals for 2013 remember to check out everything Luke has to offer.
