The Combined Federal Campaign takes place each fall and this year marks its 50th anniversary at Luke Air Force Base. This campaign provides military and federal personnel the chance to donate to the charity or charities of their choice through the workplace.

The campaign officially begins with a kickoff breakfast at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Club Five Six. There will be many local charities on location with information about their organizations. The six-week campaign will continue through Nov. 18.

Luke's goal is to collect $300,000 at a 35-percent par¬ticipation rate. Group and squadron representatives are asked to uphold a 100-percent contact rate within the Luke community.

"As the premier fighter wing in the Air Education Training Command, Luke is in a unique position to lead by example and show that warfighters give back to their local community," said Capt. David Hajek, 308th Fighter Squadron and this year's CFC chairman.

Although there are economic challenges, a $2 donation from each biweekly paycheck adds up to $48 for the year. Multiply that by 6,100 personnel at Luke and the total would be $292,800.

Everyone's contribution will make a difference in some¬one else's life. Contributors can decide to give through payroll deduction or a one-time donation. Payroll deduc¬tion allows members to spread contributions across the entire year.

"It is important to give back to the community," said 1st Lt. Roland LaFrance, 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron operations officer. "Find the time and give what you can."
This is everyone's campaign, according to Hajek.

"You choose the organization and the causes you would like to support; you choose how much you would like to give; and you choose how to give (check, cash and payroll deduction)," he said. "We hope to see maximum participation at the breakfast and let's help Luke set a CFC record."
