The 56th Fighter Wing received a $64,000 rebate April 11 for using the Government Travel Card. The amount is given to groups quarterly by the Air Education and Training Command as an incentive program for staying below 2 percent of base-wide delinquencies.

"For the past year, Luke has been one of the best bases in AETC, beating other bases 11 out of 12 months," said 1st Lt. Justin Pettigrew, 56th Comptroller Squadron budget analyst.

The wing typically receives rebates that range from $15,000 to $64,000. The amount given in rebates is largely predicated on how much the card was used by travelers in that period of time.

Luke typically receives a large portion of the rebate that AETC receives since we have approximately 4,500 active cardholders on base, Lieutenant Pettigrew said.

The GTC is being transitioned out and the Controlled Spend Account is taking its place.

"Since the CSA is accepted more widely, we expect to see a larger increase in the rebate," said Tech Sgt. Nina Mitcham, 56th CPTS customer service NCO-in-charge. "This will allow Luke to receive more money, which will inevitably improve our quality of life on base."
