A team of technicians will be visiting every unit at Luke Air Force Base, including the 944th Fighter Wing and Air National Guard Units, between Jan. 20 and March 25 to mark and register more than $199-million worth of government equipment.

Once the process is completed, the Air Force will have total visibility of all assets at every base, said Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Velissariou, 56th Logistic Readiness Squadron Equipment Management NCO in-charge.

To save time and alleviate stress, Sergeant Velissariou recommends preparing equipment for the technicians.

"At this time, the schedule is being accomplished two weeks prior to the visit," she said. "If possible, building custodians should have assets staged so that the national stock number, part number, cage code, serial numbers and nomenclature are ready to be marked."

Sergeant Velissariou said that each technician will mark about 350 a day, even on Saturdays if needed.

"With support from everyone, the process should be smooth," she said.

After every piece of equipment is marked and registered, the new Expeditionary Combat Support System will create wide-spread visibility, Sergeant Velissariou said.

"ECSS is the cornerstone enabler for the Expeditionary Logistics for the 21st Century campaign, which in turn supports Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century," she said. "Once ECSS comes online, the system will provide universal access to consistent, real-time information, allowing for proactive planning and scheduling, enhanced and standardized reporting, and total asset visibility across the globe."
