Club membership pays Published Dec. 6, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Melanie Holochwost 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- If you have ever thought about becoming a club member, now is the time. The annual Air Force Club Membership campaign is going on until Dec. 31, which is saving new members even more money. In addition to regular benefits, if servicemembers and retirees join before the New Year, they will receive three months of free dues and two free lunches, according to Senior Master Sgt. Douglas Mills, 56th Force Support Squadron Sustainment Services Flight superintendent. "Air Force Clubs offer members numerous free and inexpensive activities throughout the year," Sergeant Mills said. "These benefits include discounts on every meal, an annual $25,000 scholarship program, Football Frenzy, Air Force Hoops and other members-only programs." Although the Mastercard membership card is optional, Sergeant Mills said the military free cash rewards program is an outstanding benefit to any member. "When you use your club membership card in any on-base services activity, you earn 2 percent cash back on every eligible purchase," he said. "This includes purchases at the base exchange and commissary, even gas. Additionally, you earn 1 percent cash back on eligible purchases everywhere else on and off base. Points can be redeemed for cash back, gift cards and travel, including airfare, hotel and car rental." Even if a club member doesn't choose the credit card option, club membership has other monetary benefits. "The discounts club members receive at Club Five Six, Plaza Deli, Thunderbolt Lanes, Falcon Dunes Golf Course and other places around the base can pay for the cost of membership and then some," Sergeant Mills said. "Monthly membership dues range from $4 to $19, depending on rank." If interested in joining more than 2,700 other Luke Air Force Base club members, stop by Club Five Six to fill out an application.
