Computer support, help to centralize Published July 23, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Melanie Holochwost 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Computer problems can be frustrating, especially when it is difficult to find the right person to help fix them. Fortunately, the Air Force noticed this problem and implemented a solution that makes work easier for those in need of network and computer support services. According to Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Rizzardo, 56th Communications Squadron Operations Flight chief, the Enterprise IT Service Desk will become Luke's first line of defense in resolving network and computer problems beginning Aug. 2. "We are going to have one help desk function supporting the entire Air Force," he said. "Highly trained technicians will field all troubleshooting calls 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and aim to resolve user problems over the phone." The ESDs are currently located at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas; Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and Gunter Annex, Ala. Chief Rizzardo said that if the problem cannot be resolved over the phone, the ticket will be forwarded to the 56th CS communication focal point for local dissemination and troubleshooting. "This concept has been proven to be effective in both the military and civilian sectors," he said. "The ESDs have been absorbing troubleshooting duties for bases across multiple MAJCOMs with a high level of customer satisfaction." To contact the ESD, call (210) 925-2900 or DSN 945-2900.
