To prepare, here is a list of frequently asked questions. Q: What do I need to bring with me to my fitness assessment? A: Bring your Air Force identification card, fitness screening questionnaire, fitness score sheet, and if necessary, an AF 422 (physical profile serial report). You will not be able to test without these items. Q: What if I feel sick the morning of the test? A: Show up for your test in PT gear, sign in, and then you will be instructed to report to the medical group clinic. Q: Do I need to be in PT gear if I'm only height, weight and tape only? A: Yes, it is an official Air Force test. Q: Do you accept walk-ins? A: Yes, but only on a space available basis. Make sure you bring all mandatory items with you. Q: Can you use an mp3 player while you run? A: Yes, but you must remove one ear piece as you cross the number line when laps are counted to hear your lap time as it is called out at you. Q: What happens if you fail? A: Your commander will be notified with a case file containing an AF 108 and a hard copy of your score sheet. Then, contacts are made to the Health and Wellness Center and you are enrolled in mandatory Healthy Living Program classes. Q: What is the incentive for scoring above a 90 percent? A: Airman who earn an "excellent" score, 90 percent or above when testing in all four categories may test once instead of twice a year. Airmen who are medically exempt from testing in one or more categories must still test twice a year regardless of their score. Q: Will I be able to get a copy of my score sheet? A: Yes, servicemembers will be provided a copy via email. Q: Is the fitness calculator on the Air Force Fitness Management System based on new or old standards? A: Prior to July 1 it calculated both scores but now it will calculate new standards only. Q: What should I do if I injure myself during the test? A: If you become injured during an event, you need to stop immediately and the fitness assessment staff will assist you. Q: Are you allowed to stop and take a drink of water? A: You can before or after each event. For more information, call Matthew McCoy at (623) 856-2471.
