The top Thunderbolts of the year were announced Saturday at the Luke Air Force Base Desert Star Club during the 56th Fighter Wing 2008 Annual Awards banquet.

Of the more than 60 competitors, 13 were selected as the top in their respective categories. The Airmen, NCOs and senior NCOs will go on to represent the wing in the 19th Air Force annual awards competition. Winners from there will go on to compete at the Air Education and Training Command and eventually vie to be named one of the Air Force's Twelve Outstanding Airmen.

Moreover, the competition is an ideal way to prove to Airmen that hard work, commitment and living the Air Force lifestyle pays off.

"Being nominated for Ceremonial Guardsmen of the Year 2008 was truly a great honor and one of my greatest memories as an Airman," said Senior Airman David Chou, 56th Mission Support Squadron career development technician. "This was a great moment that every Airman should work toward."
