Airmen at Luke Air Force Base and their families now have access to another provider of a full spectrum of health care services now that TriWest Healthcare Alliance has added St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center to the TRICARE provider network.

"This is an extremely valuable addition to the TRICARE network for Luke Airmen and their families," said Dr. Frank Maguire, TriWest's senior vice-president of healthcare services and chief medical officer. "St. Joseph's has a level one trauma center, which leads the state in treating the greatest amount of trauma patients, as well as a comprehensive cancer center, maternity and newborn options."

St. Joseph's is a non-profit medical center and part of Catholic Healthcare West. The hospital provides extensive services to the surrounding community and is located in the heart of Phoenix at Sixth Avenue and Thomas Road.

Other care St. Joseph's offers:
· Psychiatric and counseling services
· Rehabilitative services, including for traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries
· Women's services
· Outpatient surgery and recovery care
· Radiology services
· Pharmacy services
· Laboratory services
· Internal medicine
· Medical records management

In order to be covered under TRICARE, eligible beneficiaries must first receive a referral from their primary care manager at the 56th Medical Group at Luke. All doctors employed by and a number of doctors with privileges at St. Joseph's are now covered under TRICARE, with exception of physicians at Barrow Neurological Institute, who are not part of the TRICARE network.

A full list of TRICARE network providers is available through TriWest's online provider directory at www.triwest.com>Find a Provider. Participating providers from St. Joseph's hospital are listed under the group "Catholic Healthcare West." The directory is also searchable by name, location and specialty.

TriWest administers TRICARE, the military's health care program in Arizona and 20 other western states.
