CFC contributions exceed base goal Published Nov. 20, 2008 By Senior Airman Tong Duong 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- It was down at the midway point, but due to the continual efforts of squadron Combined Federal Campaign representatives and the generosity of Luke Air Force Base Thunderbolts, the base came from behind to exceed this year's CFC fund-raising goal. The goal for Luke this year was $230,000 and fund-raising took place between Sept. 24 and Nov. 4. "The CFC campaign ended last week, and I'm happy to say that we met and exceeded our financial goal," said Maj. Jason Kinzer, 425th Fighter Squadron and CFC project officer. "I'm still tallying the numbers, but the $247,796 contributed is more than 105 percent of our goal." Squadron representatives were able to make 97 percent face-to-face contact with Airmen, which included some great efforts to contact those that are currently deployed. "I'm proud of the work done by our unit CFC representatives as well as the generosity of all Luke Thunderbolts who contributed," said Brig. Gen. Kurt Neubauer, 56th Fighter Wing commander. "The CFC is an excellent opportunity for us to support non-profit organizations that are out there working to help people and improve our communities at the local, national and international level." Contributions from Luke also helped to exceed the fundraising goal with 31.9 percent of the population participating -- including Reserve, Defense Department contractors and other federal employees, Major Kinzer said. The highest turnout came from the 56th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron with 384 participants, just over 55 percent of the unit population participating, according to Major Kinzer. "The average annual donation across the base was just over $130 -- the cost of a can of coke from the snack bar each work day," Major Kinzer said. All donations are tax deductible; similarly, depending on which charity you contributed to, your donation may be eligible for an Arizona income tax rebate.
