Luke Air Force Base Adopt-a-family Published Nov. 20, 2008 By Master Sgt. ROSENE GOODS 756th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Luke Air Force Base members have the opportunity to take care of Airmen in need during the holidays by 'adopting' a family and providing them holiday gifts though the Adopt-A-Family program. This program is entirely anonymous. Financially challenged Luke families are identified to first sergeants, and each is assigned an identification number. Anyone can adopt a family or families by donating requested items. These donations are given to the families at the end of the campaign, before Christmas. Those interested in adopting a family are asked to provide a minimum of one gift or gift certificate for each child in the family. Volunteers may also provide a gift certificate to a local grocery store for a holiday meal with a minimum amount of $25. For those wishing to donate a personal check, it should be written to the Luke AFB First Sergeants Council or Operation WarmHeart. Gifts should be unwrapped and labeled with the adopted family's assigned number and put in an appropriate package for transport, like an open cardboard box. Volunteers can start adopting families today. For more information, call squadron first sergeants or Master Sergeant Rosene Goods at (623) 856-8693.
