Maj. Matthew Pollack assumed command of the 56th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Monday, during a ceremony held in Hanger 485.

Major Pollack and his family join Team Luke after serving at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

Although new to the F-16 Fighting Falcon, Major Pollack's experiences have clearly prepared him to lead his unit, said Col. Geoffrey Parkhurst, 56th Maintenance Group commander.

"He's worked on F-15s and airlifters in the field, led aircraft parts repair and supply chain management at the depot, instructed new officers at the Air Forces maintenance officer course, and worked with the Republic of Singapore's unit at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan.," he said.

Major Pollack addressed the men and women of the 56th AMXS and promised to give his best.

"You have continually proven that you are on top of your game," he said. "You have the hardware and inspection results to prove it. More importantly than the accolades or numbers are the true results; graduated pilots moving into combat coded squadrons, defending freedoms and interests abroad. You make that happen; it's what we do, and it's who we are. As your commander, I promise to lead you in this effort, to support you with clear convictions and a servant's heart."

Major Pollack assumed command from Maj. Brian Shawaryn, who served three months as interim commander of the 56th AMXS.
