"One constant in our Air Force is certain - when a great leader leaves, somehow we always find an equally talented officer to take their place," said Brig. Gen. Tom Jones, 56th Fighter Wing commander.

Seats began to fill with Thunderbolts from the 56th Security Forces, Services, Contracting, Logistics, Communications, Civil Engineering and other base squadrons to take part in the Mission Support Group change of command ceremony here April 2.

Col. Andre K. Curry, deputy support group commander, Pope AFB, N.C., took command of the 56th MSG from Col. Ronald J. Mozzillo.

Colonel Mozzillo volunteered for a 365-day tour to Baghdad, Iraq where he will serve as the Strategic Communication Operations chief.

"It's been a tremendous ride," said Colonel Mozzillo as he expressed his thanks and gratitude to his fellow Thunderbolts and family. "Life is full of opportunities, and you've made the best of those opportunities. Serving with the men and women of Luke has made a significant difference in my life and heart."

Colonel Mozzillo relinquished his command and Colonel Curry took center stage to formally accept his new position.

"I am indeed honored to be given the opportunity to lead the men and women of the 56th MSG, and I will work hard to continue its great legacy," said Colonel Curry.

He continued to express thanks to not only his new Air Force family, but also to his family who traveled at great lengths to accompany him to the ceremony - many of which who experienced their first official military event that day.

"To the men and women of the 56th - you are gaining a leader of extraordinary talent. Colonel Curry brings a unique blend of experience and expertise to his new command, and I know we will see great things," General Jones said.
