"This promotion offers members a club card choice of either the traditional Chase MasterCard or a private label credit card," Harvey said. "An applicant fills out a simple, short form in our office in Club Thunderbolt. We issue a temporary card that can be used immediately, until a permanent card is mailed. There is no monthy fee by any of the lending institutions for a Luke club charge card."

"In fact, normal club dues go directly to Luke's central fund, which helps support the base library, community center and fitness center, as well as special events such as SpringFest, July fourth fireworks and air shows," he said. "So in a sense, when you become a club member, you're contributing to the ongoing support of vital services and functions at Luke."

Current members who wish to can transfer to a private label club card. For those who prefer to pay by cash, check or a different credit card, the Club card can be used for membership verification only.

Membership privileges are reciprocal and worldwide at other Air Force bases, but are subject to the specific rules, rates and guidelines of each base, Harvey said.

The Luke club also handles public events planning and parties for catered and non-catered events, at room rates that compare favorably with off-base banquet and party facilities. Linda Hiatt, collocated club catering manager, helps plan and cater dinner parties, wedding receptions, luncheon and dinner meetings, cocktail and hors d'oeuvre parties, squadron parties, birthday celebrations, anniversaries and retirements. The party host club member provides a guest list of nonmembers and people without normal access on base to gain temporary access for the event.
