From the commissary to the food court in the Luke Air Force Base Exchange, there are many food establishments Airman can go on base to satisfy their need for feed. And, now, there's one more that flew completely under the radar.

Island Breeze recently opened its doors on the third floor of Bldg. 1150. With competitive prices and a variety of food choices, Island Breeze is shaping up to be the go-to spot for Airmen on base.

Island Breeze opened on Sept. 16 as a result of Grace Meyer, co-owner and cook, teaming with Paul Aarons, co-manager, to remodel space on base.

"Aarons called and asked me to be the co-manager, and I signed on immediately," Meyer said. "In July we made the agreement and in September, Island Breeze was born."

The restaurant is open 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and has a variety of foods from which to choose.

"From pancakes and breakfast sandwiches in the morning, to hamburgers and chicken sandwiches for lunch, we have options for everyone," Meyer said. "We have healthy menu items as well. At Island Breeze, our food is always fresh and made to order, never premade. We always focus on friendly service and provide customers with the best customer service. It might take a little bit for your food to be prepared, but just know it'll be worth the wait."

Even though Island Breeze just opened, they're hoping to have a long-term establishment here on base.
