The 56th Logistic Readiness Squadron team dominated the intramural flag football game with their lightning fast speed against the 56th Component Maintenance Squadron Scorpions, running away with a 39-0 victory.

Jeff Johnson, LRS, set the tone for the game with a 60-yard touchdown run on the first play. The undermanned CMS team, playing one player short on the field, was unable to contain LRS from the start of the game.

LRS used their speed to sack the Scorpions quarterback on the first play. LRS's strong defensive play forced a 3-and-out by CMS. A couple of plays into LRS's drive, the team scored its second touchdown of the night making it 14-0.

The Scorpions continued to struggle on their next two drives as the team's quarterback threw two interceptions, both turned into touchdowns for LRS.

CMS began to move the chains in their fifth offensive possession after getting back-to-back first downs. As time dwindled, the Scorpions went for it on 4th and 5 on the LRS 25-yard line. Ryan Swartz threw the ball to the end zone to try to get his team on the board, but was intercepted.

LRS went into halftime with a 27-0 lead.

"We tried our best to slow LRS down since we played short-handed," Swartz said. "After the first half we knew we had to hit our offensive routes and make some defensive adjustments if we wanted to have a chance to stay in the game."

The Scorpions offense took to the field to start the first half, but was immediately picked off by Nicholas Spivey, LRS, on first down. Spivey ran the ball back for a touchdown, extending the lead to 33-0.

CMS had another spark in their offense on the next drive, taking the ball down to LRS's 23-yard line. The Scorpions were unable to gain three yards on 4th down, turning the ball over to LRS.

LRS scored the final touchdown of the game to give them the victory.

"The game went well for us," Spivey said. "We have been working hard and coming together. We were able to play at our tempo by using our speed, which helped us get in a rhythm to win the game."
