The Combined Unit Inspection may have been canceled, but some units here were still inspected, like the 56th Medical Group, which just finished their Health Services Inspection Oct. 25.

"We had a long night with the inspectors last night," said Brig. Gen. Mike Rothstein, 56th Fighter Wing commander, as he briefed the MDG on the results of their inspection. "I don't believe this accurately tells the great work you all do every day, but the inspectors gave you a 'satisfactory.'"

This revelation from Rothstein didn't even inspire applause amongst the crowd gathered to hear the results.

"Okay, not really," Rothstein said. "You actually got an 'outstanding!'"

The MDG was given a score of 94 on their inspection and received high praise from the inspectors.

"The inspectors couldn't say enough good things about you," Col. Yolanda Bledsoe, 56th MDG commander, said to her Airmen. "Of the things that stood out to them was customer service. They were impressed with what you do to take care of the customers every day."

The inspectors were also impressed with process improvements, she said.

"You do a great job every day, and you're always finding ways to make things even better," Bledsoe said. "We have seen that proven over and over. They also like how enthusiastic you are about what you do, that you take pride in what you do and that shows."

All the hard work that went into getting an "outstanding" was noticed by the inspectors, but Rothstein wants the MDG to look to the future.

"I'm really proud of all of you," he said. "The inspectors said they only give out three or four 'outstanding' ratings a year," he said. ""While this is great and it confirms the great unit I know you all are, it is what we will do Monday to care for our patients that matters. You are involved in the most personal business in the Air Force, so keep up the good work, don't rest on your laurels and keep performing day in and day out."
