The 56th Civil Engineer Squadron and 607th Air Control Squadron teams stepped onto the golf course Aug. 22 for an intramural golf game at the Falcon Dunes Golf Course. The Dragon Slayers defeated ACS 6-0.

The teams competed in a scramble format. Two points were awarded to the winner of the front nine holes, back nine holes and the team that wins the most holes, with a six point maximum in a match.

The game began with CES winning the first hole. They continued to dominate the front nine by winning every hole, giving them a two-point lead.

Bryan Magee, 56th CES pavement and equipment maintenance apprentice, birdied the 12th hole as he continued to swing away during the back nine.

CES won all the holes except the 15th. The victory on the back nine gave them another two points as well as the two points for winning the most holes.

"Golf is the most calming and most frustrating game that I've had the pleasure to learn and enjoy," said Chrystopher Beck, 607th ACS cyber transport systems technician. "This round of golf was the most fun I've had this golf season, but our team will have to work on consistency."

The win gave CES a record of 3-5 for the season, giving them a shot at making the playoffs if they win their next game. The top six teams will compete in the playoffs. CES is currently ranked seventh and 1.5 games behind the 56th Operations Support Squadron team.

The playoffs begin Sept. 5, and the CES team hopes the stars align for them to make the cut.

"We played one of our best matches and are improving," said Nick McFawl, 56th CES pavement and equipment maintenance apprentice. "We also have to win our next game while hoping the 607th Air Control Squadron loses theirs to be able to make the playoffs."
