2nd Lt. Frank Luke Jr. shot down his first German observation balloon 92 years ago Sunday during World War I.  During the next 17 days the lieutenant would go on to have 18 confirmed kills, including 14 balloons.  He was killed September 29, 1918, after destroying his final three balloons and then attacking German infantry on the ground.  Lieutenant Luke was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions.
