An F-35A Lightning II aircraft takes off Sept. 23, 2022, at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. The F-35 is a fifth-generation fighter that features advanced stealth, sensor fusion and logistics support capabilities that provide increased survivability in an advanced threat environment. Luke AFB is home to 77 F-16s and 111 F-35s that enable Airmen assigned to the base to train the world’s greatest fighter pilots and combat ready Airmen.
