Certified to PMEL

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The 56th Component Maintenance Squadron Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory received their compliance certification Jan. 26 at Luke Air Force Base. This certifies measurements are accurate where it counts.

The PMEL shop calibrates and tests precision tools, gauges, test equipment and instruments which are relied on by Luke Airmen to do their jobs.

"All measuring equipment that the base uses comes through us," said Master Sgt. Hermin Griffith, 56th CMS PMEL technical manager. "We see multi meters that civil engineers use to test power, equipment and gauges found on the flightline and precision equipment such as weight scales and safety analyzers used at the medical group. Everything will come through here so we can ensure its accuracy."

During their base to base evaluation tour the 562nd Combat Sustainment Group from Robins Air Force Base, Ga., proved that PMEL was in compliance with AFI 21-113 Air Force Metrology and Calibration Management and issued them their two-year certification to perform metrology.

"It was a mini unit compliance inspection," said Sergeant Griffith. "The inspection team looked at our programs and management section, quality control programs and facility.

They also performed multiple over the shoulder evaluations of our technicians calibrating equipment."

Now the PMEL shop can practice their trade fully certified and ready to go.

"I am ecstatic for PMEL and their outstanding accomplishment," said Maj. Robert Brinker, 56th CMS commander. "With this certification our customers know they are receiving the best support possible."
