Thunderbolts and family and friends of the 56th Security Forces Squadron were welcomed by military working dogs and their handlers as they arrived for a change of command ceremony at the Desert Star Club June 13.

Col. Andre Curry, 56th Mission Support Group commander, served as the reviewing officer as Maj. Chris DeGuelle, 56th Security Forces Squadron commander, relinquished command to Maj. Michael Borders.

Colonel Curry began the ceremony with words of praise for the leaving commander and emphasized that Major DeGuelle "in only a short amount of time, has accomplished what would normally take years to do," said the colonel.

After only one year of outstanding service at Luke, Major DeGuelle was selected to attend Air Command and Staff College.

Before relinquishing his command, Major DeGuelle expressed his gratitude and appreciation.

"The folks of the 56th Security Forces Squadron are the real deal and are a total force unit," said Major DeGuelle. "It has been an honor!"

"Major DeGuelle has set me up for success," said Major Borders, the new 56th SFS commander. "I look forward to this duty. The men and women in security forces can expect my best, and I will expect theirs in return."
