The 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron squared off against Army Recruiters at Luke Air Force Base during an intramural basketball game. LRS dominated Army Recruiters with a final score of 55-22.

LRS took an early lead with Jovonte Atkins, 56th LRS team coach, winning the tip off, giving his team possession. They answered with points on the board 30 seconds into the game.

"We went in focused on defense," Atkins said. "We needed to work on our transition defense and increase our drives to the basket."

With a lighter bench, Army Recruiters kept their spirits high and played hard against LRS but LRS was on top 29-14 at the end of the first half.

"The game is going well," Atkins said. "We're closing lanes and making a number of good steals. Heading into the second half we want to keep the intensity high and finish the game strong."

LRS opened the second half by sinking a few three-pointers in the first few minutes. Their defense reigned supreme by stealing the ball from Army Recruiters faster than they could get back up the court.
With ten and a half minutes left on the clock, LRS was up by 30 with a score of 50-20. The game was called with 8 minutes left.

"Our communication was good and was the key aspect to why the game was easier for us," said Hanniel Julien, 56th LRS team member.

LRS will face off against the 56th Component Maintenance Squadron in the next game.

"For the game against CMS, we know they have a couple of big guys, and we have to box them out and get back in the transition," Julien said. "If we keep playing like this we'll win the championship."
