BMGR discovery
The 56th Range Management Office archaeologist, Ms. Carol Heathington, made an important historical discovery this month in a remote area of the Barry M. Goldwater Range. The bowl fragment is a Lower Colorado Buffware, which was produced along the Colorado River, along the lower Gila River, and in the deserts of western Arizona and southern California. Lower Colorado Buffwares were made over a long period beginning around A.D. 850, and this type of pottery continued to be made by native people in the area, during this historic period.
