Artificial water sites constructed for the benefit of Sonoran Desert wildlife are also visited by humans. A motion-activated camera captured this image of suspected illegal hikers collecting water as they passed through the Barry M. Goldwater Range-East in southwestern Arizona. Notice the fabric-soled slippers worn by the hiker on the left; these slippers help conceal footprints. Photo: A. Alvidrez via motion-activated camera
