The 56th Range Management Office manages the Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field in southwest Arizona. In 2009, RMO/ESM staff used grant funds from the National Public Lands Day foundation to enhance a desert nature trail (the Roar of Freedom Nature Trail) near a campground for military retirees at the auxiliary airfield facility.
