Piestewa Challenge honors women who made the ultimate sacrifice

Former U.S. Army specialist Shoshana Johnson, Purple Heart recipient and first black female prisoner of war in U.S. military history, speaks to participants of the Wear Blue: Run to Remember Piestewa Challenge March 26, 2023, at Piestewa Peak Trailhead in Phoenix, Arizona. Service members from Luke Air Force Base, as well as other community volunteers, participated in the event, which began with a four-mile hike to the top of Piestewa Peak and a traditional calling out of the names of the deceased armed forces members.
