Skousen flew combat missions in the Korean and Vietnam wars, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for acts of heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight. A Luke Air Force Base volunteer helps a disabled veteran during the 2015 National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic in San Diego, California. Forty-two Airmen attended the clinic to assist disabled veterans from all over the country. The clinic gave veterans an opportunity  to challenge themselves  through education and recreational activities.
